Borden Youth Soccer League gearing up for 5th season

Borden Youth Soccer President Nick Ray is anticipating the upcoming soccer season. "I am excited to be getting ready for our upcoming 5th season, and hope that the 100 plus kids that enjoy our league each year are too," Ray said.

The soccer league will be hosting it's first round of sign-ups at Borden Elementary School, during the Borden Elementary School student registration.

"During the elementary registration we will have a sign-up table with representatives from our league on Tuesday August 5th, from 3pm until 7:30 pm, Wednesday August 6th, from 3pm until 6 pm and Thursday August 7th, from 3 pm until 7:30 pm, Ray said. Exact information about the school's registration can be found at Borden Elementary School's website, www.bordenelem.wclark.k12.in.us.

"If parents aren't able to make sign-ups at the school they shouldn't worry we have created an alternate way of registering. Just click here to download a sign-up form, which you can fill out at home and mail in with a check or money order payable to: Borden Youth Soccer League," Ray said.  "However, all mailed registration forms must be postmarked by Wednesday August 13th," he added. Sign-ups end on Friday August 15 and NO Refunds will be given after Monday August 18.

Fees for the league are as follows:  $40.00 for 1st child, an additional $25.00 for the 2nd child, and $15.00 for each additional child.
"We have tried to make concessions for families with several children and that is why we have lowered the registration fees for aditional children. We don't want to see any children not being able to participate because of the leagues necessary registration fees."

Children from ages 4 to 12, as of their age on August 1st, are welcome to sign up!  And you don't have to be a resident of Borden to participate. "We encourage kids from the surrounding areas in both counties to participate in our league. We don't just have kids from Borden playing. We have kids from Pekin, Salem and Sellersburg playing here. We know we have a professionally run and well coached league as you will find," Ray said.

The season runs during September and October. It will includes eight games at each level. Each child MUST have to play: Shin Guards, Black Shorts and soccer cleats. The Borden Youth Soccer League will supply team shirts and socks.

Remember there will be no sign-ups after Friday August 15 and NO Refunds after Monday August 18.

If you cant make the registration times at the Borden Elementary School or you don’t have computer access or you simply have more questions you can contact the Borden Youth Soccer League President Nick Ray at 812-967-1375.

The Borden Legacy

Read about the history of the Borden Institue founded by William W. Borden.

William W. Borden returned to New Providence after his financial success in Leadville, Colorado. He engaged in collecting and scientific study, and he implemented his educational theories with the founding in 1884 of the Borden Institute.

The legacy of Borden, however, reached beyond his town. After his death, his scientific collections were given to the Smithsonian Institution and to Chicago’s Field Museum. Parts of his collections went to several Indiana institutions.
